What do I need to coach this year? Is it different for Select and Rep? Where do I find out the requirements?We have developed a Coach Certification Status page where coaches and local associations can check certifications: https://www.coachoba.ca/coach-certification-status A full list of requirements can be found on the Baseball Ontario website under the coaches tab. Yes there are different requirements for Rep and Select. The chart explains this by level for both rep and select. For your convenience, we have also attached the pdf document below. Have I met my requirements? How do I know?Locals and coaches can check certification at: https://www.coachoba.ca/coach-certification-status If there are any errors in the coach's information (i.e. age/classification coaching or NCCP #) please reach out to your local registrar to have the information corrected on roster. A full list of requirements is addressed in Question 1 of the FAQ above.

How do I register for Coach Initiation in Sport and Coach Initiation in Baseball Fundamentals,Coach Initiation in Sport and Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) is an online module provided by Baseball Canada through their NCCP site. To Register (or log in if you already registered) Visit - https://nccp.baseball.ca/ Click on "Register" on the left hand side. Complete the information and pay the registration fee. The course is under the "Session" tab

Is a AAA coach considered qualified to coach a lower level team.Coaches certified at the AAA level are eligible to coach AA and below in that same age division.

Did "Absolutes" replace Skills Analysis? If I took Skills Analysis, do I still need Absolutes?Absolutes Clinic replaced Skills Analysis Clinic Feb 29th, 2016. Absolutes Clinic is not needed if you have the Skills Analysis Clinic. A black checkmark in your NCCP profile, beside Absolutes, indicates you have completed this requirement through equivalency. PLEASE NOTE: The SKILLS Clinic (recently introduced) is not an equivalent to Absolutes.

Is the course "Absolutes" equivalent to "Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals)"?No it is not. The only equivalency for courses is when Absolutes replaced the Skills Analysis clinic in 2016. Therefore if the certification chart indicates you need to complete Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) then you need to complete this regardless if you have or have not completed Absolutes.

How do I access / complete my volunteer screening?This is completed through On-Deck. Every volunteer must complete Level 1. Volunteers who are risk category 2, must also complete the background check. Our Volunteer screening policy can be found on playoba.ca under about / policies. Can I take all of the courses online or do I need to take some in person?The following “Clinics” can be taken either in-person or online - Initiation Clinic - Absolutes Clinic - Planning Clinic - Teaching & Learning Clinic - Pitching & Catching Clinic - Skills Clinic - Strategies Clinic - Hitting Clinic - Infielding Clinic - Base Running Clinic - Outfielding Clinic The Coach Initiation in Sport, Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) and My First Pitch are self-directed online modules that are completed through Baseball Canada.

Will there be more clinics available?Clinic season will start winding down soon so we strongly advise you to take your clinics now while there are still several to choose from! Our coaching team of instructors will soon be taking the field as well, which will result in the decrease of number of clinics to choose from. Yes there will be clinics added in May and June, but not at the volume you are seeing now. Again, we STRONGLY advise you take your clinics in April. We have not started posting clinics in May yet... this will occur towards the end of April.

My NCCP Profile - How do I look up the courses I have completed as an NCCP coach?Your coaching credentials are housed with Baseball Canada (https://nccp.baseball.ca/) and/or The Coaching Association of Canada (https://thelocker.coach.ca/). Remember, it can take up to 2-3 business days to update from a clinic you just recently completed.

We are not able to check your status within NCCP for you. To view your completed clinics, log into your profile with the Coaching Association of Canada (https://thelocker.coach.ca/). If you feel your profile has not been updated, then please submit using our Question Pod above.
